Midway Stadium Timeline

Minnesota United announced on March 25, 2015 that it had been awarded a Major League Soccer franchise and would be joining the top division of U.S. soccer sometime in either 2017 or 2018. Shortly after the press conference, Minnesota United announced its intention to build a soccer specific stadium in Minnesota. With plans now set in motion, the club hopes to have the stadium completed in time for the 2018 MLS season.

• March 25, 2015 – Club awarded Major League Soccer franchise

• April 16, 2015 – Club announces plans to privately fun stadium

• October 23, 2015 – Club announces St. Paul stadium location

• February 24, 2016 – Club releases stadium designs

• March 2, 2016 – St. Paul City Council passes resolution for infrastructure improvements surrounding Midway Stadium.

• March 8, 2016 – Minnesota Legislative session begins

• May 2016 – Projected groundbreaking for new stadium

• March 2018 – Projected completion date for new stadium
